Tent rental starts with one question: what if the weather turns?

You found the right lawn, the right backyard or the right parking lot. The view is perfect. Then you check the forecast and wonder about wind, sun, a cold evening or rain.

Without cover, one weather change can push dinner indoors or send guests home early. A tent gives you a plan B that is already set up. It gives you shade at noon, shelter at night and a clear space to build the party inside.

The hard part is the detail. How big, which style, how many walls, how to heat it and whether the city needs a permit. That is the part we handle.

Why coastal events here lean on tents

Many events here are close to the ocean. Days can be bright and warm, and evenings cool off once the sun goes down. A breeze off the water makes it feel colder still. A tent with walls blocks that wind and holds heat in.

Sun is the other side of it. A daytime ceremony or a company lunch needs shade as much as a winter party needs warmth. A white tent gives shade. A clear tent keeps the view and the sky in sight.

Then there are the rules. A tent is a temporary structure, and the city may require a permit before the install. Our tenting questionnaire explains how we handle that. Our post on heating or cooling a tent in coastal California goes deeper on comfort.

How a tent rental works with us

1

Answer the tenting questionnaire

Quoting a tent takes detail. The questionnaire asks about your site, guest count and lighting ideas, so we can quote it right.

2

Review and site visit

Our team reviews your answers and tells you if a site visit is needed. A CAD drawing is available for an added fee.

3

Permit

We can file the city permit for you. If you file it, we need the approved permit before install; in Oxnard, before ordering.

4

Install and pickup

Our crew installs the tent and any walls, lighting and flooring, then comes back to take it all down after your event ends.

Build the whole tent package in one quote

A tent is the frame. What goes inside makes it work. One quote can cover the tent plus tables, chairs, linens, a dance floor and lighting. Heat and walls go on the list when the event runs past sunset.

Permits take time, so start early. Our tenting questionnaire notes that most permits need to be filed 30 days in advance, depending on the canopy size. Oxnard has strict rules for any structure over 100 square feet. For an Oxnard event, please get the city permit before you confirm your order with us. Our post on Ventura County tent permits walks through the steps.

Tent rental questions

Do I need a permit for a rented tent?

Often, yes. A tent counts as a temporary structure, and the city may require a permit before the install. We can apply for it and handle it through the city for you. If you file it yourself, we need the approved permit before we install. Most permits need to be filed 30 days ahead, depending on the tent size.

What size tent do I need for 100 guests?

Plan on 12 to 15 square feet per guest for a seated dinner, per our tent size guide. A cocktail party needs 8 to 10, and theater style rows need 6 to 8. So 100 guests at a seated dinner need about 1,200 to 1,500 square feet before you add a dance floor, bar or buffet. Tell us your layout in the tenting questionnaire and we will size it.

Should I rent a clear tent or a white tent?

Pick a clear tent when the view or the night sky is the point. Pick a white tent when you want shade and a room feel. Both come with wall options. Clear walls keep the view, and white walls with windows give privacy while letting light in.

Can you heat a tent for a winter event?

Yes, we rent patio heaters, fire tables and a blower heater with a duct. The blower pushes warm air into a tent with the walls down. Patio heaters warm people standing near them. Add walls to hold the heat in, and tell us about power when you fill out the questionnaire.

What do you need from me to quote a tent?

Start with our tenting questionnaire. It asks for the site, the date, the guest count and how you plan to use the space. Share any lighting photos you like too. Our team reviews it and tells you if a site visit is needed before we quote.

Do you rent tents in Santa Barbara?

Yes. Our delivery area includes Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, so we rent and install tents for weddings, parties and company events across Santa Barbara County. Our guide to tent rentals in Santa Barbara covers the styles that work on local lawns and beaches. Give us the address in the tenting questionnaire, and we will plan the install around your site.
